Riley Miller is a well-known rancher and horseman from Justiceburg, Texas. At nine years old he received his first hound as a gift from Milt Good, and over seventy years later is still trailing hounds.
Coons, coyotes, and bobcats were always his quarry in Texas, but in 1943 Miller saw bear tracks in the snow near Trinidad, Colorado. His dogs would not trail a bear, so Miller trained, bred, and traded hounds until he had dogs that would hunt bear, and later, mountain lions.
He adopted his father’s theory concerning horses and hounds. If there was a better one out there, he either bought it or bred to it, so his hounds and horses have gained a first-class reputation.
